Speciality & Fine Chemicals Service

Specialty & Fine Chemicals Service

Specialty chemicals are blends of two or more chemicals manufactured to produce a solution with a specific function. In the United States, the specialty & fine chemical business generates over $250 billion in revenues. This has been a passion of mine since the mid-1980s when I first wrote a research report on rubber processing chemicals.

Our US Specialty & Fine Chemicals Service provides coverage of monthly, quarterly and annual demand volumes for 30 US specialty & fine chemical markets (active pharmaceutical ingredients, adhesives & sealants, a grochemical intermediates, antioxidants, biocides, catalysts, coatings, construction chemicals, corrosion inhibitors, cosmetic additives, dyes, electronic chemicals, flame retardants, flavors & fragrances, food additives, foundry chemicals, industrial & institutional cleaners, lubricant additives, mining chemicals, oilfield chemicals, paint additives, paper additives, specialty pigments, plastic additives, plasticizers, plastics compounding, printing ink, rubber processing chemicals, textile specialties, and water management chemicals. The annual data upon which the monthly and quarterly data are derived are more detailed. Depending on the specialty chemical segment this could range up to 90 individual products and additive types. Our global coverage (among eight major regions) is similar. Contact us for details on availability. Our monthly service is timely and provides a useful means to assess changes in demand for the various market and functional specialty chemical segments in the United States.

With the issue in the first month of the quarter (January, April, July, and October) we provide a quarterly (and annual) outlook for the 30 US specialty & fine chemical markets that we cover. In the other months, we provide an examination of the long-term prospects for a segment. These are more detailed in product coverage than the quarterly outlook. Selection of segments is subscriber-driven. The US specialty & fine chemicals service also includes our monthly update of economic outlook.

We can’t think of a better way to benchmark the performance of a portfolio of businesses and to assess opportunities.
